Search the Archive
Now that BirminghamLives has been launched, we're starting the huge job of putting my archive collection
onto the website. Thanks to the wholehearted belief in this project by the Birmingham Grid for Learning
and South Birmingham College, BirminghamLives now has a full-time curator. Their job is to catalogue
the collection, to make sure it is cared for, and to put it on the site. It is a big project that will
take some time to complete!
To search the archive, type in a keyword (or words) in the box above, then click the 'SEARCH' button. The
results will be displayed below. If you want to view one of the results in detail, click on its title. You
can choose to limit your search to a particular type of content such as photographs or documents, by
selecting the 'Format' from the drop-down list before you click 'SEARCH'. You can also search the
districts in and around Birmingham by using the 'Area' list, places of interest by using the
'Physical Place' list, or even by what people get up to by using the 'Human Activity' list.
If you can't find a photo or a memory of a place or person you're looking for, then please bear with us,
we are adding to the site as often as possible, but it will take time. You can also send us your own
memories. Why not have a look at the 'Submissions' page for details on how you can become a part of this
great project.
With all best wishes,
Carl
